I'll start from the end to the beginning, if you don't mind...

In one word; yes.
In more words: CW was created for a few reasons. IIRC, it happened during and
after Pawel was on a major story-and-building roll. His storyline, which
wasn't a common practice back then (huh... I sound like a history teacher),
inspired many of us to do the same.
I remember a comment WRT one of Pawel's MOCs... someone said, "he doesn't just
say 'here's a castle, note X, Y and Z', but he combines his buildings with his
stories."
It was around then that Pawel suggested the CW idea. It is, basically,
everything you say below:

That's one thing - instead of looking around for the hundreds of sites, you've
got a bunch right in front of you.

That's the other thing - it gives people an opportunity to work together and
create the coolest things. From experience, crossovers are *extremely* fun,
and they teach one a lot. For me, it was an opportunity to polish my story-
telling skills, which were quite rough at first (what with ESL, not reading
enuff English-fantasy books), and improved greatly due to comments from Craig
and Matthew.
For other people, it might be building skills, photographic skills, "simple"
inspiration, or just about anything.
(aside... expect a great crossover RSN, not by me, I can't wait to see the end
result myself <grin>)

Great!

That's a neat idea.
I hold the personal view that nothing and no-one is eternally good or evil
(1); it's all in the eye of the beholder.
But if there are a few people out there interested - and I'm SURE there are
(2) - that could work out really well.
Another alternative to keep in mind, is that you can build only a few of your
structures at a time, take the appropriate pics, and then (if neccessary for
brick limits) thrash the building, make a new one, and take the appropriate
pics. And walla! Looks like you had 'em up all along... who would know, unless
you told us?
Or a variation on the above - you don't need a complete building, only
something that would look like part of a building and leave the
readers/viewers to imagine the rest (e.g. my throne).

Personally I'm all tied up for the next 10 chapters or so, with my own ideas
that have to get somewhere, but if you've got some ideas and no one to share
with, LMK when I get back for .il. :-)
(I'm sure there are plenty of people interested, though!! Right, GUYS? Delurk
now and you'll get 50% off CW membership fee. ;-)

Naturally. ;-)
Hope my answer explains some'n.

(1) not even, or maybe *especially*, Larry!! ;-)
(2) speak up, ye lurkers! Now's the time!

| Okay, de-lurking to give you, My Deep Thoughts: The idea to collaborate is very interesting but very difficult to pull off successfully without some fantastic artistic chemistry. Most artist-types seem to have pretty healthy egos so I suspect the (...) (25 years ago, 22-Jul-00, to lugnet.castle)

| Perhaps this question will seem silly but after visiting Castle World a few times I was wondering about the reason Castle World exists. Don't get me wrong it's a great site but my question is whether it serves as a place to display Castle creations (...) (25 years ago, 22-Jul-00, to lugnet.castle)
