okay.. let me get this straight. You *demand* cites from me, but then
expect me to do research to support *your* claims. Maybe you think your
time is much more valuable than mine or something, but this doesn't seem to
be rational to me.
and, just for fun, I did that search on google and found nothing really
concrete, especially by way of cost estimations. None of the websites I
found looked all that 'for real', so maybe you should send me a link to
"what's being proposed."
currently, as stated before, the ISS costs 100 billion and has a *three* man
crew. I would like some -actual- evidence as to why I should not believe an
industrial moonbase or whatever would not be more to construct.. and more by
several multipliers (3x, 4x, etc).

Somehow this strikes me as purely insulting. And somewhere I remember
Lugnet being the nicest place on the web.. hmm..
well, a luddite, as i recall, is someone who is anti-technology and
technological development. so far i have voiced questions about off planet
colonies and industrial bases. these questions have been from a perspective
of trying to solve some of humanities larger problems (mass starvation, the
growing gap between rich and poor, global illiteracy). and my opinions began
as a defence from the statement "my girlfriend thinks we should solve
everything down here before even thinking about space" or something like
that. i don't see how what i've said has been all that anti-technology. in
fact, i would love to see a technological solution to the problem i
mentioned above. furthermore, seeing how i'm engaging in this "discussion"
from a glowing box connected to millions of other glowing boxes, i would
guess my opinion towards technology is one of acceptance rather than animosity.
and while i am bitter toward sophists, i try to not let it show. i believe
a good debate show use logic and reason, not petty insults and bitterness.
