That's simple - they're there to keep the cats from falling in as they spring up
onto the sink ;-)
Dead serious - our cats' water glasses are on the bathroom sink, and once I forgot
to put the lid down, and heard a splash. The cats learned to just jump straight
from the floor to the sink REAL fast. Only 1 got wet, yet all 3 avoid it now. So
that cat telepathy must be true ;-)
