That’s for darned sure. Meanwhile, it’s considered un-patriotic to criticize the actual violence inflicted upon innocent civilians overseas (well, “overseas” relative to the US, I mean).

I had all kinds of toy guns and knives when I was a kid, and as far as I know I’ve never actually shot or stabbed anyone.

Alpha Team already had the run-in with being branded too violent for its depiction of “planes bombing a city”.

I remember this only vaguely. Was it simply due to the violence, or was it because of the perceived similarity to the attacks of 9/11?

And what parent didn’t honestly think that Classic Space ships weren’t equipped with laser guns? And what child didn’t imagine it?

Heck, TLG itself imagined it!! I believe that the commercial for the Space Cruiser, ended with a child brandishing the red astronaut who in turn brandished the Classic Space Gun. “Look out, monsters!” warned the child in his orgy of fledgling violence.

Can anyone back me up on this? I recall it with some clarity, but one can be certain and still be wrong...

Should this be FUT’ed to OT.debate? I didn’t want to steer it that way, but now that I think of it I may have. Oh, well--send replies there if appropriate.

Dave!
