Hang in there!  I've now got to wait for delivery.

Indeed they are. It must be clear to them now that going straight to a 50%
off sale has done nothing but loose them a large amount of money...

I meant Business Express - their consignment numbers obviously don't have
enough digits if they're re-using them within the space of four weeks.  On
top of that they must have a separate database for the web tracking which
lags a long way behind their main one, so that I still see the old parcel
even after the number has been re-assigned to me.

eToys are just trying to recover their losses in the shortest time possible.
They could sell at 25% off, but they'd be paying staff to sit around a lot
longer while they wait for the orders to trickle in - staff who just want to
find a new job.  Once they've decided to shut down the company, that's a big
loss.  They then just try to recover as much as they can as quickly as they can.

What is most annoying is that the European side was booming - they've cited
loss of business in the States as the problem, but closed the European
outlet.  Still, I can't see web retailers taking off until they offer
something that shops can't.  When you pay RRP + handling + postage on an
item, then have to wait for it - I'd rather pop in to TRU.  It's all very
well being able to order it at 4 a.m. halfway up Ben Nevis, but if you don't
see it for a fortnight, what's the point?  The only people really interested
are housebound, where it might just be cheaper than the standard
home-shopping catalogue markup.  Stuff like letsbuyit and lastminute are
pretty good ideas, where information on the products updates quite rapidly
(though letsbuyit has closed), but what good was eToys without the 50% off?

Jason.
