I was wandering through some local stores when I noticed a really strange
Lego Christmas set, the 2250. It subdivides into 24 compartments, each with
a little polybag that makes a small toy. Collectively, they form a
spaceship.

Has anyone else seen this set around? I've never even heard of it before.

Ah, the Advent calendar.  One of our new delurkers (Canberra, sorry I've
forgotten your name!) found it in David Jones a couple of weeks ago.  I
never did find out whether or not it was a DJ exclusive in Australia.

Anyway, no David Jones in Tas and none of my local stores had any idea what
I was talking about so in the end my parents-in-law picked one up for me
from DJ on a holiday to Melbourne.  For some strange reason they looked in
other stores first but couldn't find it.  I am told that DJ in Melbourne
city centre has an impressive section devoted to advent calendars but it
wasn't there and the staff insisted that it didn't exist.  It was in the toy
department with the rest of the Lego.

Given that the advent season was half over by the time mine made it home I
haven't opened it, I'm saving it for next year, but it looks pretty good.
The price was $24.95 if I recall correctly.
