Avoid that at all costs, it takes away so much from the overall architecture.

That worked for my castle and some of my town buildings. Its very stable and
movable.

Very easily knocked over, bumped or simply falls out of place, especially if
you attempt to move it (I know from experience).

I use a combination of hinges and technic pegs to hold the hinged sections
together when closed. The hinges allow the structure to open and the technic
pegs it it firmly in place when closed. This is also, AFAIK, the sturdiest
method if you need to move it.

| (...) Perhaps the use of plates resting on tiles may work. For example, the room below could be 8x10 (studs).
