I wondered that too. I would think that it wouldn't matter. If it tried to
open a binary file, I don't think it would be any worse than openning a
SimpleText or some other "TEXT" file. POV-Ray still has to check the file
for proper POV-Ray formatting.

It isn't that Apple is getting rid of it, it is that Darwin, the Unix part
of Mac OS X doesn't deal with creator/file types. I do alot with the
terminal, and all the unix tools do the same thing, create files with no
creator/file types. Until Lars customizes it for Mac OS X, L3P pretty much
falls into the catigory of a unix tool.
Apple is really interesting. It is 2 companies really, a bunch of Unix
geeks from NeXT, and the old Apple employees. See this movie "The future of
