  Re: Clone DATs--any interest?

(...) As of this point, I don't think ldraw.org should *host* clone parts packs, but it wouldn't do any harm to link to them off-site. IMASO the site should continue to promote Lego brand parts and editors which use the LDraw format, and not push (...)   RACHAL Changeover

Hi all, It's a day late but we changeover from RACHAL 1 - Atmosphobic to the all new RACHAL 2 - RACHAL Impossible today. Thank you very much to everyone who submitted an entry. I really enjoy seeing what you've all come up with and it we some (...) (18 years ago, 1-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.announce, FTX) !

Advanced User/Beginning User Sections at ldraw.org

Hey.. I've been doing a lot of thinking on how to improve the site based on discussions I had last week at Kidvention and with a few people who have a real interest in making it as easy as possible for new users to get into LDraw. LDraw and LDLite have the same problem, but to a lesser extent. That's why it's so important to remove the blank-face on decorated elements. Steve (...) (26 years ago, 25-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Part Numbering Crisis in LDraw

(...) I think TLG's numbering always boils down to manufacturing and inventory control. A part number is needed for each molded part, so each subpart needs its own number. And the aggregate, post-gluing part needs a number to track its insertion (...) (26 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) Why don't we reference these part numbers as comments in the part-file, perhaps on a 0 KEYWORDS line? Although that would be a headache to deal with, making sure that all new parts get all the appropriate part numbers... Steve (26 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) Why's that such a big problem? I mean... it's not like a 20 byte part file, or 10000 of them, will take up a significant amount of space. Especially zipped, when you don't have to worry about cluster sizes. By the time there are so many (...) (26 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)
