I used to work for the Computer Labs when I was an undergrad. Around '94-'96. Sounds simple, proving to be a pain... Design a robot that will cover "x" inches in exactly "y" time regardless of the surface (carpet vs. tile, for instance). The best I've been able to do is roughly target time +/- 20%. Jim (25 years ago, 16-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

The book -- written in the late 80's if I remember it correctly, is a great read, and one that inspired several people working in Artifical Life.
