Good photos of Jurassic Park III sets

Go to: (URL) are about four pictures and are much better than the ones found yesterday at www.action-figure.com. I quote: Children ages 8 and up can bring to life the menacing Spinosaurus dinosaur featured in the movie as he attacks a plane in a (...)   Re: Good photos of Jurassic Park III sets

(...) I don't particularly like those new dinosaurs. The Spinosaur looks cool, but I think the Raptors and the "new" Pteranadon look stupid. I liked the Dino Island Dinosaurs. Maybe it's just me, but the pre-formed animals seem more real to me. The (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Re: Good photos of Jurassic Park III sets

(...) Am I the only one who thinks these dinos look pretty lame? Ah, well, at least the small dinos are made of bricks. What's with the Pteranodon with no beak? I know it's cheaper for production, but I really don't like the continued use of the (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Re: Good photos of Jurassic Park III sets

(...) It's not one big SPUD. I know it looks that way, but it's not. I promise. (...) ??? You know, several people have said that they prefer the premolded dinos because they look better. For my part, I like these new Dino set guys, because they are (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

  New Dinosaurs

(...) Actually we should love those new Raptors and the Pteranodon. I, too, think that they don't look as "cool" as the Spinosaur, but I think it's a great approach of TLC not to make more SPUDs, but add some smaller special parts and build up the (...)   Re: New Dinosaurs

(...) It's actually *4* parts. Not identical. You have seen that it is divided symmetrically from side to side, making what you think are two identical parts in the front and back- it's also divided from front to back symetrically, so the body is (...)   Re: New Dinosaurs

(...) After having another look, I agree happily. The more parts, the better. (...) Unfortunately, you snipped the rest of my post. The next sentence was begining with "But". I only wanted to say that at that point I did not see any typical (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.year.2001)

  Re: New Dinosaurs

(...) I'm sorry, I didn't mean to misrepresent what you were saying. <:( I try to trim stuff down to it's bare minimum, perhaps in this case I was a little overzealous. (...) Well, we know the torso piece limb placement will hold a dragon arm. That (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.year.2001)

Re: Good photos of Jurassic Park III sets

(...) I agree with this sentiment. My point, however, was: If they're going to reuse parts (the Pteranodon/ Raptor head) Why didn't they reuse something that looks like a pteranodon instead of sticking a raptor head on the brick-built Pterosaur (...)   Re: New Dinosaurs

(...) No problem :-) (...) :D (Oops, I did it! Its a "Me too" post!) -Norman (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.year.2001)

Re: Good photos of Jurassic Park III sets

(...) Because the pteranodon piece is a SPUD, and they want to get back to more flexibility? eric (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

  Re: New Dinosaurs

(...) Absolutely. I'll take something crafted from plates and bricks over SPUDs (even if the SPUD-o-Saurus looks slicker) any day of the week. james (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Re: Good photos of Jurassic Park III sets

(...) I agree. Thats the problem. As an adult I am torn between wanting exacting realism and buildability. Especially since Pteranodons, Pterodactyls and Pterosaurs have always been my favorite extinct animals I wish Lego had made a better head (...)   Re: Good photos of Jurassic Park III sets

(...) Doesn't seem like their practice of late, but if this means we'll start seeing more brick-built aminals, I'm all for it. :^) ~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Re: Good photos of Jurassic Park III sets

(...) Ah, that's the spirit. :D I take it you are unaware of the Dinosaur line? There's a whole series in the Retailers' Catalogue using the parts seen in the Jurassic Park III sets (as well as some other ones) to build up the Dinos. Could be really (...)   Re: Good photos of Jurassic Park III sets

(...) I don't go 'round looking for the retailer's catalogue. In any case, I'm going to be very disappointed if they stick that same dino head on every single different dinosaur. ~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Re: Good photos of Jurassic Park III sets

Hi, I think that on the whole the new JP3 sets are pretty bad. They have a hastily thrown together look about them and they didn't even bother to design new minifigs based on the characters from the movie. The new raptors and pteradactyl would have (...)   Re: Good photos of Jurassic Park III sets

(...) That's surprsing to hear. Hmm, maybe that's actually a good thing. (...) Well, they're probably trying out a few things and seeing what works. It's not much fun for us as fans when the continuity goes all over the place, but I still gotta (...) (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

  Re: New Dinosaurs

(...) When I peeked at the JPIII pictures, the first thing that sprang into my mind was the line from _Princess Bride_, near the end, when Wesley is explaining "to the pain". I don't remember the exact quote, but it goes something like, "... you'll (...) (24 years ago, 16-Feb-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Re: Good photos of Jurassic Park III sets

(...) If you are talking about licensing issues shouldn't lego have thought of that before accepting the license. At least release figures that are not rehashed from old lines. But on the other hand if you meant being represented as a short clunky and (...)   Re: New Dinosaurs

(...) I think the main problem I have is the approach Lego took in designing these sets.Compare the largers dinosaurs like the Spinosaur and Mosasaur to the smaller ones like the Raptors and Pterasaurs. The smaller dinosaurs make use of a lot of (...) (24 years ago, 17-Feb-01, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)
