Some folks perhaps... but 'many'? When I got back into LEGO as an adult I
went on a buying frenzy. I bought not only assorted tubs and buckets, but
also Technic sets and also parts packs from LEGO Shop @ Home Canada. And
then...... it was as though a new ice age had come. Shop @ HOme Canada was
closed down completely. Fewer and fewer LEGO sets (much less LEGO Technic
sets) were making it to the store shelves. And my buying came to a halt.
It's not that my money ran out, rather that available sets (from the
company) ran dry.
> Beside of this, who needs to buy new lego anyway?
Those of us who didn't get enough when things were available. :)
I have a decent little collection but I'm constantly fighting with not
having quite enough to accomplish some of the types of constructions an
adult wants to work on.

Well, perhaps this is o.k. for some people. Actually I know it is. But for
others, this isn't a viable alternative.
I live in Canada. Some eBay sellers in the U.S. will either no longer ship
to Canada, or won't take the time to investigate how easy it is to do so.
Either way, it's often a sincere hassle (to use nice words) to get things
shipped up here.
Also, currency conversion (plus shipping) can quickly make a $1.99 eBay item
turn into $10 Canadian. This is not hard to do.
I've also bought 2nd hand that was dirty and scratched. No thanks.
Then there's selection. I want to buy things that only the company can hope
to offer in sufficient quantities.
Finally, there's the plain and simple fact that I want to consistently and
reliably buy from the company. I don't want to deal with questionable eBay
sellers, or guys just trying to unload a few unwanted parts. I want to
support the company at its source.
I think Issac "The Gaff" puts it best in this posting:
http://news.lugnet.com/robotics/?n=18590
When he says, "Any money LEGO hasn't gotten from me is their own fault. I've
demonstrated my willingness to buy at full price anything they produce that
is even remotely swell."
I wrote about a similar frustration (of not being able to give money to the
LEGO company for products they *used* to make) in this page:

A trickle of old sets. I'm not counting on the end of the world, but I'm
not counting on a good selection of bulk parts just yet either.

I am a 9 year old brain trapped in a 33 year old body. How much patience am
I expected to have? ;)
> Oh please make all this RIP technic threads rest?
Actually, I think this is the first juicy one (on this topic) in quite a
while. I think they are terribly important actually. Too much backslapping
and congratulating from a few can make a company quickly think that it's
pleasing everyone. Threads like this remind LEGO that there are those of us
out there who don't want any more castle or train sets. We want new and
exciting Mindstorms projects. We want a Technic Legends set. We want to be
dazzled with some new Technic elements that are *not* used to build battle
bots or anthromorthic creatures.

I couldn't find a single brick in my collection that I'd be prepared to put
up for sale. I simply don't have enough duplicates or excess. I have to
wonder if the majority of adult LEGO fans are in the position to have extra
parts to sell, or are in the camp of those who desparately want to spend
more money on parts they can't get.

Always. :)
