Oh, sure. I agree with that. It's having enough beams that's the problem!

I think studs really dont help. With the very first brick used, your are
predetermining parts of structure which you haven't even built. Studs are
male/female so when use start using bricks, all the bricks used thereafter
already have there orientations decided. This can cause problems, this is
why people are always requesting stud reversing parts. Beams dont have this
problem.

Well, it just depends on what you need for a given situation. Studs can
really help, if you need them. If not, they're just an added complication.

But you're absolutely right. Using a beam gives you symmetry and no specific
direction for the studs. And the 1x1 width to height ratio (approximately
;-) combined with rounded ends makes them even more useful in the proper
situation.
