Jen,
That's easily your coolest model yet. It's good to see you're not above a
little modification to the parts either, after all, specialised pieces are
fine when you know there isn't an alternative. There are quite a few 5 and
7-long axles in my collection now, and beams with odd bumps and corners
filed off.
The notes you made on the different forms of axle articulation were a blast
from the past for me - another of my projects when I was young was building
models with twin steering axles at the front and three or four beam axles
(undriven mind you) at the rear. We put a common pivot for the rear axles
longitudinally along their centres and made the entire unit pivot
front-to-back as well - and the lack of bodywork meant pretty wild
suspension travel. I've no idea what the models were meant to be, although
pretend armour, winches and lights were probably the order of the day.
Can't wait for your next project!
Becky
