Once again, the sound of jaws hitting the floor is heard
around the world...
It may interest some of you to know that the little box near the top
of the outer boom section holds the sensors for the load-moment
indication system these big cranes use.
Without the LMI, an operator can easily tip the crane by lifting
too much near the radius limit. Of course, the fact that the
rear outriggers are clear of the ground on a heavy lift should be
a clue!
I used to work for PAT, a major supplier of LMIs to Demag, Grove,
and others.
