I'm wondering whether you would argue that the UCS Tie Fighter was not
Technic if it had been released as a Technic set. A Technic set contains
Technic elements and is released under the Technic name by TLC. Bionicle
sets fall in this category. Some StarWars sets are released under the
Technic line. They contain Technic elements and they are rightfully called
Technic sets.
The Bionicle line isn't only or mainly about computer games and collecting
masks. I won't be collecting masks nor will I be playing any Bionicle
computer games. But I am interested in getting several of the sets because
of the elements they include - the new style gears, the ball-joint, some of
the tool elements, etc... It seems to me the Bionicle line is about playing
well with sets that involve the traditional Technic mechanisms and functions
as well as new Technic mechanisms and functions - not as advanced,
assuredly, as many Technic sets, but definitely well within the spirit of
the Technic name.
