Either way, is the Airtech MISB or MIB worth the $300 it routinely fetches
online? Let me know.

I got a used Airtech Claw Rig from eBay for $150 and I have also seen some
MISBs for around the same price, so $300 might be a bit too much. Still, if I
had to pick one top Technic set of all time, this would be it... :-)

The set I got was in great condition (did not need to wash the pieces or
anything) except that a few of the pneumatic tubes, which were pre-cut, were
of incorrect lengths and the rubber bands were very worn down (I just replaced
these after they both broke). Washing the pieces is an interesting idea
though...

The current sets are not a patch on the ones from the seventies and
eighties....which is why they are so collectible.

Yup, I agree...many of the older sets were better than the newer ones are; it
would be nice if the Lego company still manufactured them. Along with 8868,
the 8094 and 8862 sets were some of my favorites (pretty hard to get them
these days though).

And I'm only thirty......

Heh...14 here; looks like I'm pretty young...

One of the older Technic kits that has shown up on my radar is the 1992 Airtech Claw Rig 8868. Feedback from set owners is good in that both people who claim ownership mention it as one of their favorites. The problem with getting ahold of one is (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)
