That's what I was thinking too... (...) similar (...) These are the motors from the Train sets of the 70's. these motors are great to drive your technic creation. They have an internal gearing indeed and these also have 4000 rpm. But when the motors (...) (25 years ago, 8-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

I have just completed the last major update for 2000 for Technica v3. The site now includes information on almost 250 technic sets and 325 technic elements. I got Extreme Creatures about a month ago when it was last on special at S@H for $25. I guess for the Fibre Optic unit and the collection of parts, it's not a bad price. These motors, used in Mindstorms, have 3 programmed states: On, Off and Float. When 'On' the motor runs at the set power level. When 'Floated' the motor coasts to a stop (power removed). When 'Off' the motor brakes to a stop. This braking is quite (...) (25 years ago, 5-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

You can actually get very similar behaviour using a standard differential. If you hold one "output" shaft, and turn the other, the crown wheel turns at half the input speed. The advantage of planetary gears is the output shaft is in line with the (...) (25 years ago, 4-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)

I saw some sort of diagram some place (I think in some sort of Dacta documentation) stating that you could use a technic motor as a generator. This makes sense, but I never tried it until today and I am utterly amazed at how well it works! I'm using (...) (25 years ago, 4-Oct-00, to lugnet.technic)
