  Re: Technicopedia Update

I must say I this site is excellent. I'm really looking forward to seeing more, particularly from 1988-1996. It must take a lot of hard work to do all this and it is very greatly appreciated.   Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) Always a delight to browse! I especially like Benjamin's LDraw mechanical drawings... What about linking to these LDraw files, it would help to grasp more complex mechanisms such as 8865 gearbox (URL) (16 years ago, 3-Mar-08, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) It's nice to see the old Technic sets again. Of the first ten years I think I have almost all Technic sets because then it was new and inspiring. Later on it became less interesting because the sets weren't real life anymore. I was always (...) (16 years ago, 3-Mar-08, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) Thanks, I had been corresponding with Benjamin and mentioned that making the Ldraw files takes longer than everything else I do to write Technicopedia. He graciously offered to make a few files for me which really helped out. They are not full (...) (16 years ago, 4-Mar-08, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

Thank you very much for the flash back into time. I grew up on Technic / Expert Builder, but have stored it all away. Very exciting to see it again! Great work! Thanks, Scott (16 years ago, 17-Oct-08, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

Good news everyone! I have now added the sets from 1991 to Technicopedia including 8074, 8810, 8815, 8820, 8838, and 8856. (URL) You'll notice some other changes as well. Firstly, I have a new logo which is now rendered in 3D. The logo on the title (...) (16 years ago, 13-Dec-08, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) Nice! One minor 'complaint' though: IMO, the 360 animations are rotating too fast, so it's difficult to really see any details. The super thing would be to have a controllable 360 rotation, so I could stop at any angle and look closer. I don't (...) (16 years ago, 13-Dec-08, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

  Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) Understood, it's just that I thought: When we *have* a 360 view, it would be nice to be able to look at it in my own time :-) (...) I like it. Of course it's small but as it can be stopped, it's still giving much more information than the free (...) (16 years ago, 13-Dec-08, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) OK, round 3. The black background is just due to the fact that I rendered it with an alpha channel so it is transparent. My animation software made this black by default, but it is easy to change. So with that in mind.... I've made a new one (...) (16 years ago, 14-Dec-08, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) Eric. Love the work you've put in so far, and I'd like to help out. If you give me some set numbers for which you don't have LDraw files, I'd be willing to put some time in and draw them up, provided the Peeron instructions scans are available (...)   Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) Wohoo! Almost as good as having the real model! I realize it's too much work and bandwith, to realistically use it on every model, but it can definitely be a bonus link on some of them! (16 years ago, 14-Dec-08, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

I have now added the sets from 1992 to Technicopedia including 8826, 8828, 8836, 8837, 8839, and the great 8868. 8868 was a tremendous amount of work, but I hope you'll agree that it was worth it.   Re: Technicopedia Update

Great Work Eric ! 1992 was the first year of my dark ages and i've been trying to acquire these kits for some time now. Your work gives me insight into the mechanics of this fantastic period of Technic. Steve (15 years ago, 12-Jan-09, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

Hello Eric, "The compressor pump has the same basic body and piston as the actuator (snip). This fantastic system was used only once, a tragedy which has no logical explanation."   Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) At the moment, I don't intend to cover any of the above except the racers which are clearly Technic. I'd like to go back and do the supplemental packs at some point. Bionicle is right out. There was only one Discovery set which I'd call (...) (15 years ago, 14-Jan-09, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

  Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) Hi Eric, awesome update. It's no wonder that I only have three technic universal sets in my collection - and one of these was a gift, 8020. The other two are 8082, along with 8456, the fiber optic set from 1996, which I consider a universal (...) (15 years ago, 17-May-09, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) I no longer have a proofreader, so please feel free to let me know where you've found errors and I'll correct them. Just send me a personal email. I feel the same about the universal sets. I find that 8062, 8082, and 8094 are very good. The (...) (15 years ago, 17-May-09, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) Agreed. 8479 while having 4 models has a one clear "main" model. 8485 in my mind, has two main models and one alternate model. But neither are universal sets. 8094 is a universal set, in my line of thinking. (15 years ago, 17-May-09, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for. I've posted the 1994 update to Technicopedia. I processed over 1000 pictures for the 8880 page alone. Enjoy. YUMMY!!!! I love the Technopedia Web Site! You did a lot of work, for sure. Please accept my sincere thanks for the work you did on the 8880 page. You rock! Its been so long since I built that set, I hardly remember some of the construction goodies. (...) (15 years ago, 3-Sep-09, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) A minor MINOR quibble with the 8880 page, the hubs and tires were actually used in *two* other sets, rather than just one. Very much enjoyed your text and images, though. VERY nicely done. -- joshua (15 years ago, 4-Sep-09, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

(...) Really good pages. I spent almost half an hour reading about 8880 - and I own the set! (15 years ago, 4-Sep-09, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Technicopedia Update

I've just posted a new update to (URL). This is an unusual update in that it does not add any new years of models (although I am working on 1995).
