For that matter, I've preferred Rob and Fab themselves over the stupid teddy
bears, but we all know the George-wanted-wookies-but-it-wouldn't-have-worked
story.

You know, Rob and Fab would've been cool to watch -- esp. with the casualities
they'd've taken during the battle.  ;-)

Nah, they'd probably have acted like they'd been injured, but it would
really have been someone else.

Well...  Before ROTJ was released, everyone and their dog was oohing and
aahing over Fett, based upon the few minutes he had on-screen in TESB and the
Christmas Special.  Boba Fett just had this...charisma I guess, some dark
appeal for the teenage boy market.  Lucas didn't like this affection over a
bad guy, so he purposefully scripted Fett's early death for ROTJ.

That's interesting, especially considering the superultramegaheavy-duty
marketing push they gave Darth Maul, who likewise had about 2 lines and fell
into a pit.  Hmm...

(Personally, I felt he could've spruced up Fett's character with all sorts of
ninja moves and sundry b-movie bad guy stuff, and let him linger until at
least half way through the movie, but that's just me.)

Possibly, but Fett really had very little to do with the story as a whole,
so there would have to have been significant alterations to the script to give
his character a larger useful role.

The extra Fett scenes in the Special Editions is Lucas' attempt at an apology,
after seeing how Fett's popularity could be translated into $$$.  Seeing him
now prance around Jabba's palace during the music scene made me want to gag.

I'm afraid I agree.  And what was with that stupid big-mouthed, big-toothed
singer they added?  The CGI was terrible, at least as bad as that insipid
"Blarp" in Lost in Space.  Every second that thing (the singer or Blarp) was
on-screen, the quality of the effect was sufficiently poor to distract from
the scene.

     Dave!
