LFL seem to use the introduction of new Star Wars material as an oppportunity
to introduce a new price point -- I believe cinema tickets have been revised
to new price levels with the introduction of each new SW film after ANH.
Similarly, the new price point for new release VHS tapes may wait until TPM is
released -- because, let's face it, people will buy it.  Then you'll see many
more tapes at $22.98.

I wouldn't know for the old ones, I was too young to see most movies in
theatres.  :)  However, The release of TPM didn't change ticket prices outright
around here.  In fact, most places seem to have stayed the same.  Then again,
the only theatres I've been to recently are ones with fixed prices and brand
new ones, so I can't be sure.

You're right about the cost of anime videos though -- they're still seen as a
specialist market in the UK too, despite selling thousands of copies for the
lead titles.

Interestingly, Anime prices are cheaper at my local Electronics Boutique than
they are at my local Suncoast Video.  And, you're right, its still considered a
specialist market, even with the release of Princess Mononoke in theatres.  I
think Laputa would've done better; luckily they're considering a theatrical
release for that too!

Just my €0.2 (Thinks to self: wonder if that euro symbol will map
correctly on people's US displays?)

Not on my NT4.0 SP4 system.  Then again, NT 4.0 does suck.  ;)

P.S.  I'm happy!  The dates for Otakon 2000 (Aug. 4-6) have been released!
Yaaay!

P.P.S.  I just picked up copies of Irresponsible Captain Tylor Vol.4 and
Shinesman.  Both are hilarious!!

Sheesh!  That is more than many anime videos, and they seem to be the most
expensive around (or at least around here)!

P.S.  Average video price around here seems to be $14 to $18.  Maybe I've
just been lucky about the films I buy.
