    WANTED: New fad! —Paul Baulch
Attention spacers! Things are a little too quiet in .space at the moment. The reason, IMO, is obvious. We need a new fad. Look at the past fads which have spurred a good deal of creativity: Mecha (the mother of all fads... so big they got their own (...) (22 years ago, 6-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: WANTED: New fad! —John P. Henderson
(...) All good ideas. I especially like the one about ships with concealed weapons as I have tried to do this in some of my own designs too. Perhaps it should be for hidden 'anything' though, not just weapons. But first let me answer why you may be (...) (22 years ago, 6-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

(...) I could understand not everyone cares about mini-fig characters, but how on earth would you have read .castle and expected not to see *castles*?? Anyway, since this is .space, I will just point out a couple of posts elsewhere that might answer (...) (22 years ago, 7-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

(...) Sounds good. I've got a few pink elements that I've been trying to find a use for. I'd been considering a pink pod, but maybe they could go into something all new. Either way, I'm not done with pods yet. (...) I really like this idea. I'd been (...) (22 years ago, 6-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: WANTED: New fad! —Matthew Wightwick
(...) Just a very timid suggestion (from someone who is only posting in .space for the very first time - hello all!). Seeing as though the Moonbase concept was so successful, maybe the creators of any spaceships could consider using the same (...) (22 years ago, 9-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: WANTED: New fad! —Gil Shaw
Aye...it has been a little quieter lately. Messageboards seem to go through cycles tho'. I'm sure that everyone's part counts will go up around Christmas with the release of the 2003 SW line in some areas, plus the under-the-tree additions. Always (...)      Yikes, I haven't posted here in a while...I read Paul's bad news and I really wanted to wish him the best. Hey Gil, how's things?          Re: WANTED: New fad! —Gil Shaw
Things go well, my friend. A little busy these days, but the building continues if only sporadically over the last little while. I've seen your updates over at FBTB...the tweaks and tucks to your MOC's are improving on an already fantastic canon (...) (22 years ago, 7-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: WANTED: New fad! —Matt Sekerak
Thanks Gil, glad to hear that all is well. My shuttle MOCs will forever be works in progress...it's great to have something to fall back on when that cursed builder's block sets in! Later. -Matt (22 years ago, 7-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

(...) You forgot one: Hoverbikes! Paul had a contest with those and most people made 2+ of em :-) (...) That's the thing with fads, you can never predict what they will be. It needs to be simple, yet easy, and still cool to succede in .space. Here's (...) (22 years ago, 7-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: WANTED: New fad! —Allister McLaren
(...) I'm surprised that after Mladen Pejic's Pixie was revealed that powered suits didn't take off more than they did.          Re: WANTED: New fad! —Gil Shaw
You know, that's very true. Mladen's suits are a blast. There were few variants (a firefighting suit....my apologies to the builder for not being able to recall his name) that were really spectacular. The manned mini mech (M3?) are a real catchy (...)
