So...would it be better to map .dat to ldraw.exe or ldlite, or l3lab.exe or
mlcad?
What about mpd files?

| (...) I've mapped both dat and mpd to ldlite. I had them set to l3lab for a while; l3lab didn't come up as quickly as it pops up dialog boxes if it hits any errors in the file which slows down the action. I think I remember seeing some folks mapping (...) (25 years ago, 16-Mar-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.build.mecha)

| [I shoulda trimmed .publish and .build.mecha, and XFUT to .cad, but I didn't. Oh, well] (...) I've tried just about every option, both for Windows file-type association, and the MIME-type association. At various times, I've used LDLite, LDraw, (...) (25 years ago, 16-Mar-00, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.build.mecha)
