Thread is unclear to me. Seems that both the 153 and the 8482 codes work
on SOME combinations (of HW, browser, default font setting, etc.) and
DON'T on others.

see: http://www.lugnet.com/publish/?n=251 ... the very append yours
references.

Seems to me that Matthew should get a real browser. It works fine in
Netscape 4.0. <grins, ducks and runs>

I guess I can change back to (tm) in future listings since there appears
to be no universal way to do it. (unlike using ampersand-"reg"-semicolon
for the (r) symbol which seems to always work)

I REALLY don't want to get into a long drawn out discussion as it's only
sort of kind of marginally important to me. (that is to say, not very)

If you can provide a definitive encoding that works in a larger set of
situations, but mandatorily including Netscape 3.0 and above through all
current versions, for all fonts, than using 153, I will switch what I
can, time permitting. (1) If not, I will stay with 153 because it works
for me, and the people who use Netscape, which are the people I care
about.

IE users can go hang for all I care. (deliberately inflammatory, I don't
really mean that)

1 - my read of the thread you pointed me to is that you cannot provide
such an encoding. But I was in a hurry when reading it.

Hmmm... I thought every single reference to Lugnet has a superscript
"TM" after it.

I used the ampersand encoded version (ampersand pound 1 5 3 semicolon or
"™" in my original copy. Are you SURE? All of them look right to me

That is not a trademark symbol. See

subject.

(...) Not sure what all the fuss is about - the TM symbol looks fine for me in IE5, so I'll keep using it. Better that than the crashes I get with Communicator. (25 years ago, 1-Oct-99, to lugnet.publish)

(...) *grin* I'm using Netscape 4.0, just not on MS Windows. It's all part of Microsoft's plot to break the cross-platform nature of the web. At least your " and ' work - a lot of people's don't. That's why I bring it up. Otherwise, I'd agree with: (...) (25 years ago, 1-Oct-99, to lugnet.publish)
