But did you have fun?!?! That's the important question!!

I've spent practically evey penny that I've made in the past six months on
lego (Of course being a teenager I don't have to pay the bills or buy food...
but still). And it was worth every penny, and every hour of babysitting
annoying (or sweet) kids. It was worth it, for *ME*. The gain I had was not
material, but it sure is there. I don't regret any of these pennies spent (1),
and all together they certainly got to a few hundreds of dollars, easily. Of
course, that's nowhere near the cash flow of some people (say Larry, Frank,
the obvious) but it was earned with my hard work. And for ME, it was worth it.

Is lego worth it to *you*? That's what you should dwell on, not the exact
amount you spent... IMHO.

just two well-earned cents.

Shiri,

Did I have fun? Well yes and no.  Consumption is a short lived high.  I
certainly appreciate the idea of feeling good about the purchase because
I "earned" the money for it.  It comes down to the old battle "need vs want".

I certainly don't need more Legos (physically).  I certained wanted more
and got them.  It's not (for me really) about amassing large quantaties of
Lego bricks/parts.  It's about having the ability to build something great
with those parts.

I was telling my dad about my recent spending spree.  I simply said,
"Ya know Dad, when I was a kid I used study the Lego space catalogs
until I could recite each set name.  I wanted them all.  And as a young
child I didn't have the ability to get them all (financially).  Well
now I can and so I am."

Too bad Lego space sets 1977-1999 are hard to find.

(1) wait, not true... I do regret buying a 6479 :-)
