Actually, in that vein, I was thinking about something: The best train layouts
I've seen have *action* occuring in them, not just trains running around. With
the absolutely beautiful engines available to us, why not have a fire going on?
I'm sure someone (heck, I'll do it) could build a building in the process of
burning, and the firefighters could be, well, trying to put it out.
It would also give us an excuse to include more than one of the Stations,
because a big enough fire rings more alarms- we could have another engine in
the process of getting to the scene. :D
On the subject of action, though- perhaps one of the robotics folks could be
convinced to use their RCXs to build a moving portion of the layout? I've seen
other people mention RCXs with light sensors closing and opening RR Crossing
gates, but maybe other, more scenery-oriented things could be animated, too?
