WTF?!?!
Are you gonna quit LUGNET Community?!?
SOrry Willy but I don't agree with ya. I got the chance to meet and to know
you in 2003 (remember my oddissey in Bozen and Milan?) and I think you're
one of the smarter soul I've ever met. However this is your decision and so
I respect that... however it's clear that I'll miss you sooooooooooo much
since I consider you my good pal.
I wish you every luck in your life and in your MOCs and I hope we'll meet
again in some Legofest in Italy... remember that "Big Show" my lastest MOC
is waiting for you judgement ;)

Good luck Willy, SEI SEMPRE IL MIGLIORE!

Dear friends,

after posting this message • http://news.lugnet.com/cad/dev/org/ldraw/?n=3467 (the
post has been canceled in the meantime) containing the following sentence:

"a library with almost 3000 files gives you plenty room for errors (being • the
maintainer of the mlcad.ini file containing only minifucker parts I know • exactly
what I'm talkin' about ;-)"

all hell broke loose. I got mail from LUGNET admin Larry Pieniazek telling • me
that the term "minifucker" is inappropriate for LUGNET and I should "ask" • for a
cancel. Usually navigating exclusively in lugnet/cad I had no clue of the • new
posting policy and all that timeout stuff and it took a bit to understand • what
was going on. I understand that LUGNET is a private owned site and that • Todd has
all the rights to nominate new admins and change the ToU whenever he • likes; that
my moral standards may differ from others and that somebody might feel • offended
by my language and therefore I asked for cancellation - being this the • only way
to stop the offence. BUT I strongly reject the procedure!

(copy'n'paste from larry's email)

The model that we use is that we do not cancel things because "we don't • like
them" or even because "they are violations". Rather, the model is that • the
user must ask for a cancel. Not say to us, "cancel if you want" but
explicitly asks for a cancel, because that way we are not exercising
editorial control. That is the way that things are done on LUGNET.

We want you to explictly ask for a cancel of this post, by referencing • the
URL.

If you do not ask for a cancel, it is our view that you are in violation
of the LUGNET terms of use. It is your choice whether to be in violation • or
not, because LUGNET does not censor, but if you choose to remain in
violation, we may in turn choose to impose a timeout either of a definite
length, or, if it is our belief that you will continue to transgress, • until
you decide you wish to be in compliance, acknowledge that the ToU applies
to you, and ask for the offending posts to be removed.

In an ironic way someone could ague that the "way" it is done on lugnet is
indeed in no way a cencorship; it's much more sophisticated: it's the art • of
auto-critics in a wonderfull george-orwell-style - get me brainwashed! I • do not
wish to be associated with a community which hasn't the bravery to admit • that
censorship is applied. I do not accept that a small group of admins has • the
power to set moral standards, telling me right from wrong and at the same • time
washing their hands clean. I do no longer agree with the LUGNET terms of • use
http://www.lugnet.com/admin/terms/agreement and therefore I asked for the
removal of my membership page as well as the cancellation of the posting
privileges.

It's time to say goodbye :'-( I had a terrific time on lugnet and enjoyed • every
single moment.  My eternal gratitude goes to the code-wizards and • part-authors
at lugnet/cad - thanks for all the wisdom and all the new things I learned • from
you. Thank you also to my Italian friends at lugnet/org/it/itlug. I will • all
miss you much,

w.
