That might make it a fair bit more difficult to position the blocks though,
wouldn't it? With a tiled surface, the 3by3 bricks could slide around 0.5
dots in any direction in the 4by4 nest.

With a 3by3 block inverted in the dots on the baseplate, it has a maximum
positional variability of just over 1 mm in any direction, which should be
pretty good.
