My 2 comments:
1. How about using black electrical tape OR simply marking up the rope
at the right distances with a Sharpie. I'm thinking that the electrical
tape may be too slippery to be grabbed by the 'bot?
2, What if we install some type of hard stop at the top of the 12 feet (in
addition to the markings), so a simple touch-sensor bumper could hit it,
and tell the 'bot to stop. Or would the ceiling beam accomplish this?

That sounds like an anti-dink rule to me :)
I've already tried a few concepts, and that rope, errrr, sorry, "sash cord", has
a pretty smooth surface, and is not as grippy as I expected. Anyone else?
build well
