Hey, you can argue all you want about whether people who want bricks to be
made in Denmark are racist - especially since you did the right thing and
posted to o.t.d. Thats what its here for. My last sentence was just a
tongue-in-cheek rehashing of yours - I didnt really mean the part about
keeping your opinions to yourself (although you presumably did when you
said it to John).
For the record, Im on your side when it comes to where LEGO is
manufactured. See here:
As an AFOL who complains long and loud about TLC actions that I disagree
with, I feel I have a duty to chime in here:
I will not think less of TLC for moving production to China, and I will
not buy less from TLC if they move production to China. I really dont care
if the bricks come from China or Mexico or El Salvador, as long as they
keep coming.
I just think its possible to have a different opinion without being a
racist.

Well trolled. I completely fell for that one.
I still have to argue there is a world of difference between saying
something is a racist statement and saying someone is a racist.

Fell for what? Youll have to explain to me what I did to be accused of
trolling. All I see are people with honest differences of opinion. Do you
believe that its possible for people to have honest differences of opinion?

I was using trolling in the sense of inviting me to respond in an annoyed (and
thus reduced) capacity. Having just skimread the wikipedia article I think this
is one of a great many uses of the word but probably not the most common (there
seems to be great variety in the percieved meaning). I cant remember the formal
argument classification of that technique but if anyone else remembers their
logic classes better than me please let me know what it is.
As for the rest, I firmly believe people can have honest differences of opinion.
I will usually stand up for peoples right to express opinions different to my
own, particularly when they are willing to pursue a logical debate about it.
That said I would very much prefer people NOT to make racist statements here,
much as some others would prefer people not to swear.
If you look through my reponses here you will find me frequently addressing the
reasons for my assertion. I have not seen many logical reasons to counteract it
since most people keep falsely equating two different situations and/or
confusing the difference between saying something is racist and saying someone
is racist.
Now if you (or anyone) wants to take up the cause of why the original post is
not racist I will be happy to debate it. Incorrect analogies and
counter-accusations of racism dont cut it in my books.
