Dear Steve,
This argument doesn't actually match my comment. If you were to argue that the
quality of Lego would go up if it was manufacured in Japan it would be the same.
You're comparing apples and pears here.

This may apply to China but I think you'll find the Czech Republic has a fairly
well educated population.

That is assuming that workers conditions and quality of goods are in any way
related. By that argument Lego manufactured in the US should be of lower quality
than that manufactured in Denmark since workers in the US typically have worse
working conditions than their counterparts in Denmark.
I also have to point out that to my knowledge the working conditions in the
Czech Republic are as good as those in the 'West'. The factories tend to be very
modern too. The cost benefits come from a liberal tax regime and low cost of
living (and thus wages).

It is the phrasing of the original post is what induced the 'implicitly
bigotred' comment, specifically "China and Czech republic, Perhaps that explains
it". I would, and still do, take that as an implicit implication that things
manufactured in either of those countries are naturally worse, which is a form
bigotry in my books. I could have phrased my response better though.
But if all that makes me a reverse fascist (whatever that means) then I will
wear that badge with pride.

| Tim: I did not mean the comment to be bigot, I think that the quality suffers. I managed a multi million dollar corp. for 14 years after retiring from the Army. I have been stationed in Europe and in Korea. As a GM I dealt with products from China. (...) (18 years ago, 28-May-06, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
