There's a local beverage store chain called "Beverages and More". When one of
their new stores opened, they priced Thomas Hardy ale for 99 cents per bottle
(instead of the $4.25 it should have been). I asked a store manager if that
was the right price (I knew it should be more) and he said if it is on the
tag, that's what they would sell it for. I (carefully)placed all the bottles on
the shelf into my cart and went to ring up - they came up in the machine at the
correct price, but the manager went to the buyer's price list, and it was 99
cents there, so he overrode the register and gave me the cheaper price. 2 dozen
of them, still aging nicely in my wine cellar.
Sometimes it DOES pay to ask...
