Here are my opinions:
Guard Tower is less than impressive from what *I* have seen..and ..er...
smelled... As you probably recall from college days, my other half's Asthma is
a key factor in anything we do - and due to the fact that the place has smelled
(1) of cigarettes and incense<SP> and cat fur everytime we've been there, the
duration of any one visit has been probably less than 10-15min max. That being
the case I know she won't be going to anything at the GT and out of deference
to her, I wouldn't go and come home smelling like a rose(2) and cause trouble
for her, myself.
The Soldiery hasn't smelled like anything (bad) that I can recall.. though
it's farther for me to drive to, but does have the excuse of being behind the
Laughing Ogre and I do need to go get my comics soon before Gib puts 'em back
on the racks to sell. oops.
Just some things to consider if there are any others with sensitive breathing
or allergy issues.
Ultimately I don't know as I'd be more than an observer as it's not a genre
I'd really be interested in getting into per se. So weigh my opinions off the
fact I probably won't show up more than to say 'hi' if at all. Get togethers
held at other locations, probably, but not for BrikWars. My schedule just
doesn't lend to it right now or in the foreseeable future. :)
(1) One would argue that "Reeked" is a more accurate term - dependant upon
one's olfactory sensitivity.
(2) A rose by any other name may still be a rose, but certainly wouldn't smell
like one.

| (...) smelled (...) Thanks for the heads-up. I'd have some problems with those smells too. The GT was top on the list only because of location. Its closer for me too. (...) I'll have to get over to The Soldiery to check it out. Thanks, Gino A... (24 years ago, 10-Aug-00, to lugnet.loc.us.oh.col)
