And just what is wrong about this? What's wrong about having a day off to be
with the family?

Markham, you are right.
Keeping Sunday special, they obviously are Christians, Catholics, Lutherans,
or other religious people and what we have here are Atheists criticizing
Christian or other Religious beliefs, because they probably don't even know
what it really means!!!

~Evan Butzlaff

Um... Evan....

What does 'having a day off to be with the family' have to do with any
religion at all?  The absence or presence of any given religion does not a
family make.  The presence of good family-oriented people is what makes a
family; and that includes the type of people willing to set aside any given
day of the week in order to be with and nurture their family.  Keeping
Sunday sacred is a mostly Christian phenomenon. Having a 'family day' is a
mostly human phenomenon.

Secondly, suggesting that atheists(1) somehow don't know anything about
other people's religious beliefs is not much more accurate than suggesting
that Christians don't understand atheism.  NOT participating in a particular
religion does not preclude you from understanding, admiring or respecting it.

Lastly, doesn't it seem likely that anyone calling themself an atheist would
entirely respect the decision of a shop owner to open or not on any
particular day? The right to choose to open or not is not unlike the right
to decide what deity to worship.... or not. An atheist who didn't honor the
decision of the shop owner probably doesn't understand the issues. After
all, freedom of choice is what allows Christians and atheists to co-exist in
peace.  :)

Regards,
Allan

(1) Remember that since atheism isn't an organized religion there is no need
to capitalize the first letter of the word.
