Re: Question: Why allow postings of lego.direct on lugnet at all? (sarcasm warning)

(...) I think you´re both right. TLC wouldn´t spam LUGNET if they were allowed to post in any group. BUT: I feel the same way as Ben. LD and/or TLC do not join the discussion or offer to have one. They mostly do some kind of marketing annoucements. (...) (22 years ago, 18-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

RE: Question: Why allow postings of lego.direct on lugnet at all?

I don't understand why can't we treat LEGO Direct as any other lugnet participant (sellers included). I ask the LUGNET Admins: If I'm a seller (just for the record: I'm not) and I start using lugnet.robotics to *advertise* robotic Parts/Sets/MOC's I (...) (...) Okay, what kind of marketing info are you taking about? We've been fairly specific, i.e., mentioning that we like polls, info on new sets, services, and bulk packs, and the like. Do you really not like that? Do you not want input on some of (...) (22 years ago, 16-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Question: Why allow postings of lego.direct on lugnet at all? (sarcasm warning)

Dear Lego® Fans! Dear people of the Lego® company and Lego.direct! This is Lugnet: the network for Lego® users, not for Lego® producers or dealers. So after the strong discussions of the last few days let me allow to put even some more oil into the (...) (22 years ago, 16-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct) !!

(...) Just to add my two cents in here. TLC is small-time in comparison to the big-time marketing we do ourselves. Think about it, we speculate on the next release in any given line, we spread around leaked photos of upcoming sets, when they start (...) (22 years ago, 15-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

(...) As opposed to the "over-care" of the past decades? I think what you consider "lack of care" is actually the LEGO company realising that there are markets outside the US, and that if they don't stop being a US-centric company, they will end up (...) IE, ad banners, ONLY pro-Lego propaganda (no flames on TLC's business decisions, etc, like juniorization qualms), etc. Also, (...) (22 years ago, 14-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Why the absence of LD in their own newsgroup?

I think LD are often silent for some fairly obvious reasons. Firstly, we LUGnetters don't seem to agree on too many things, so I don't think we send very clear messages about what we want to Lego Direct. Some people want more re-releases of Classic (...)
