The idea that recieving marketing information from a company that wants to
sell product is some kind of service to me is just inane.  That's what such
businesses do.

Okay, what kind of marketing info are you taking about?  We've been fairly
specific, i.e., mentioning that we like polls, info on new sets, services, and
bulk packs, and the like.  Do you really not like that?  Do you not want input
on some of what Lego will release in the future?  Do you not want to know what
is new at Shop at Home?  I find that hard to believe.

I'll use an example from another hobbyist community I'm a member of:  the anime
community.  When studio representatives post release dates, licensing
information, or DVD contents, it is technically marketing, no?  And yet, the
fans crave this, as well as the frequent posts asking for fan input.  I can't
see why a similar situation here would be anything but helpful.

And again, I don't care if Todd and Suz DO want to sell TLC use of the
Lugnet name if it supports the site, that TLC assumes it may use Lugnet's
name for free is simply offensive and unjust.  I am just going to assume
that you also expect to be fairly compensated for the use of your own
substantive properties...

Since when has anyone called for direct control or ownership be turned over to
TLC?  From what I've seen, they don't want this, nor would it really be
worthwhile when others are willing to do it for *free.*  Its not like TLC can
force the Lugnet admins to do things they don't wish; but they can sever all
ties.

We can talk about Lugnet not being compensated for the use of its name the
day Brad Justus starts working for Lego Direct for free.  Until then, I
really do not see your point.

I don't remember Mark or anyone else saying Lugnet shouldn't be duly
compensated, or at least permission requested, for use of its name when
necessary.

After reading your post, I noticed you answered almost none of Mark's
questions.  I'm very curious to hear any answers you have?

Jeff

Just taking it as a whole... I am not so much anti-TLC as I am pro-fan as far as Lugnet is concerned. I think a lot of you haven't given that idea much thought. As far as being a lego fan myself, let's say a 1 is not much of a fan and a 10 is very (...) (22 years ago, 15-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)
