Just a quick update:
Ive taken a little time and implemented a read-counter for web access to
news posts.
Now for display of individual articles you will find a new header line
saying Viewed: X times - it should show the actual views of that
respective article minus the current view (update happens after the article
is displayed completely).

Holy @#%$!!! That was some fast programming, sir. I bet this may even
surpass invite to chat in terms of Great Contributions to the Community!

Im sure no-one will abuse the system by reloading the page multiple times to
increase their own view count either. Just like no-one self-spotlights now ;)

;)
You know, I actually could have implemented some kind of reload-blocking, but
then again Im pretty sure the effort wouldnt pay off in the long run.
I have just checked the read counts collected since the update, and it lists
some 16,000 articles with a total of 28,000 reads in the last 9 hours, counts
for some articles running as high as 160 - marking an article as particularly
interesting by reloading it often does appear more of a pain than
self-spotlighting after all...
Anyway, I havent yet thought about new listings like last XX posts by user or
top XX posts by read count - its rather some sort of receipt just like Gary
asked for in the first place, so posters can see whether their articles actually
find a readership. Thus, it cant be in the posters own interest to make
articles appear like they were accessed frequently. Noone would search for
articles based on these criteria anyway. Or would you?
Regards,
Jerry
