Often my posts are of such a detailed historic or obscure nature that I get no replies to them. That in and of itself is not a big deal... but at least on Bricklink I know that although no one has replied to my posts, the counter there tells me that 138 folks have at least read my post.

Over here on LUGNET, I have no clue how many folks have read it, if at all, and sometimes I feel as though they’re not being read at all.

That can be discouraging...

When I look on Bricklink and see the counter way up, I feel at least that it was worthwhile to post the historic topic in the first place.

Hi Gary,

I take that as a valuable suggestion for what might be changed in the near future, however it is somewhat difficult to tell how often a post has been read as we have more ways to access posts than just the web. Still even after all those years we do get a lot of visitors using the NNTP protocol (News Service) and more readers follow their favorite groups through mail digests. Even if it were feasible, it would mean a lot of effort to count all those readers in.

As for the web interface itself, tracking some sort of read count is something I might include with one of the next maintenance runs. Virtually all “modern” forums offer statistics of that kind from the start, so I wouldn’t want to stand back.

If there are more features you feel you are missing here - please don’t hesitate to let me know, otherwise I can’t work on them.

Regards,

Jerry
