I think it’s more an issue that they don’t want to produce toys that look like they can be used to emulate the modern warfare that they see on the news and such. Nobody fights with bi-planes anymore, but fighter jets are pretty much fighter jets - regardless of era. Same thing goes with tanks or battleships.

The U.S. Navy has apparently decommissioned all of its battleships:

Do any other navies have battleships, or is the battleship pretty much obsolete nowadays?

Mark

Mark there are NO more battleships in any navy in the world the last time I checked. The aircraft carrier replaced the battleship as the “main ship-of-war” in modern navies of the world. The only battleships you can still see/get on are those that are museums. However, while nobody uses the battleship it is still a 20th century ship-of-war and fits under the catgegory of WWII type vehciles of war.

True. But the Soviets (and now the Russians) might disagree; the Kirov and her sisters? are sometimes classed as “battleships” or “battlecruisers.” We in the US more often call them “very heavy cruisers” or “command ships.”

all best
