To All,

I was surprised myself, I started using Excel at the office, and my count from
sets is 85,272. I also assimilated numerous collections from friends, family,
etc., so I am guessing I am around 100,000 parts. I thought it was around
200,000, so I was way off as well. Hey Gary, care to take a guess on yours? ;)

Terry,

Are you sure!  The size of your Titanic alone staggers the mind in parts counts.
And then there is what I think was the funniest (and wackiest) thing I've ever seen
made out of LEGO ..... namely "Linda Tripp on a Sled".  Everyone at my work
location got a laugh out of that picture.

But anyway, it gets real hard to measure counts, when your collection starts
numbering into the hundreds and thousands of sets.

I was feeling a little bored, so I decided to do a quick inventory of parts.
Based on what instruction manuals I have, and unopened boxes, I came up with a
grand total of around 34000 pieces.  (not counting a bunch of silver buckets
and assorted sets I still intend to part out)

Wow.  I thought it would be so much more.  It sure didn't add up as fast as I
thought it would.  I am humbled by all you out there with the mega collections.
OTOH, I checked my Roll-Call entry, and at that time (June 97 - wow 2 years
ago),  I guestimated it to be around 17000.  Probably not a bad guess at the
time.

(...) I'd be interested in Gary's guess of his. My very rough guess of mine is .3-.4M pieces. That's based on volumetrics, and cost, although some of my acquisitions drive my per piece cost up (500 dollar airport shuttles at 75 cents a piece and so (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)
