Wow. wowwowowow.
The Star Wars sets look really good, I think.  The snow speeder
is great.  You know, those Insectiod 4x4 half-domes are starting
to look a lot like Star Destroyer shield generators, don'tcha
know.

The speed bike set is a fantastic assortment of bricks.
Even if the set was non-SW with normal figs, I'd buy a dozen.
Dark grey antennas, foliage pieces, brown bricks. <grin>
Add to that a lightsaber and stormtroopers, and it's a good thing
they have shop-at-home, because this set will sell out.

The rock raiders sets look OK.  Mostly because I could use
some of those pieces in 4980 to make a Space:1999 eagle.  The rock
elemental figure will get tossed in the Megablok drawer, I'm
afraid, along with the chrome ding-dong. :/ The figures
look great, kind of a grundge look!  I half expect the female
minifig to have a pierced belly button!

I got a kick out of the Throwbots.  Looks like you spin the
40 tooth gear with your thumb and the arm whips around, and
the disc goes flying.  These sets will make great desk decorations,
would do great in Happy Meal sets, and probably will have their
own TV show before long (why else would they all have names?)
Amazon looks like my favorite.

The adventurer's is a bit disappointing.  I know my kids will
love the giant spider, at least.
Unfortunately, that blimp cannot possibly float, so it has to
rank up there as one of the biggest wastes of plastic I've
ever seen.  Maybe it will be vaccu-formed and come in a promotional
set. It is kind of a shame to see the same old parrot
Um, is the new adventurer guy carrying a gold _bedpan_?

On to space...I had really hoped the space port would use the
black and trans-green windows in the current police station.
Oh well.  I see they are trying to use the insectiod legs
for some other purpose, and no doubt realize they are really
rather un-useful elements. I see 6454 has an asteroid, straight
out of rock raiders, only in grey. So does 6456, as a matter of
fact.  The bottom of the 6456 launch tower has me worried:
those white slopes just don't look like normal bricks. At least
I hope they fit well with ninja sloped-wall-BURPS.  I like
the extended-length shuttle, and the full-size baseplate.

Uh, there is something strange about the base of 6454, where the
crack on the side does a zig-zag.  Sort of like a battery
compartment, with the black buttons on front to activate
light and sound. Now I'm starting to see the same features
on the back of the shuttle.  I was hoping for a big cargo
area, but it looks like the back half will be taken up by
a light and sound element.

Ninja looks nice.  I could do without the orange dragon wings,
but the buildings make up for it.  I wish the old guy on the
hill had a grey beard instead of white.

Town Jr. continues to baffle me.  "Town Center"?!?
Buy wait, does that red-overalled figure have brown
hair painted onthe top of the head?

Well, my eyes are getting weak by now.  I can't wait to find
one of these new catalogs myself.

(...) If the rock elemental is made from bricks, it's very cool. If it's a new 'action figure', then it's acceptable. If it's a non-poseable waste of plastic, then it's ... well, it's a waste of plastic. (...) :) (...) Unfortunately, I feel you (...) (26 years ago, 2-Nov-98, to lugnet.general)

(...) I'll bet these are the new gun-lance pieces, as featured in the X-Wing and Snow Speeder. (...) I like the look of the new foliage. They go nicely with the bamboo leaves. Now we just need tan 1x1 cylinder bricks, so we can make some bamboo. (...) (26 years ago, 3-Nov-98, to lugnet.general)

(...) I'm blown away by the speeder bikes and the snow speeder. Can't wait to get these! The landspeeder looks pretty small but at least it's 6 wide and not 4 wide. :) I wonder if there's room for Threepio and Artoo in the back? (...) I'm pretty (...) (26 years ago, 31-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)
