Blacktron I was what brought me out of my dark ages -- 10 years ago now,

You have much better timing than I do.  I entered my Dark Ages *during*
Blacktron I, and tried to play catch-up around 1993.  :-(

I remember walking through Wal-Mart ca. 1992 and seeing every single BT II
and most BT I sets, and thinking, "How childish.  I'll never get into those
again.  ...Though these sets look pretty cool..."  Slap me with a splintered

Hehheh -- (well, I shouldn't laugh, because it's not funny! but) -- I know
that feeling!  That's how I felt when I saw BT1 sets in a TRU when they
first came out.  I think it must've been 1987 because I bought a 6826
Crater Crawler (classic Space set) that day.  I saw the BT1 stuff,
thought, "Blyecch, what've they done? -- That's not Space LEGO anymore,
that's a cheesy sci-fi movie."

But -- as you say -- "slap me with a splintered ruler" -- I guess it's
easy sometimes to overlook something incredible when it's so different
from the previous stuff.  I certainly wasn't open-minded about LEGO in
those days...thank garsh I took a closer second look in 1989 before it was
totally too late.  Ironically, I think it was, through a strange turn of
events, Tyco which caused me to re-examine LEGO Space more closely.
