The "Brick-by-brick" Lego past, present, and future" tent at Legoland
Kidvention was showing some new items that will coming out by year end.  No
pictures were allowed expect for two of them.  They are:

1) Statue of Liberty - A large sculpture of the Statue of Liberty without
the pedestal.  About 60-70cm high made up of mostly bricks, plates, and • slopes.
Similar to a lot of the sculptures around the park.  The unique part is the
special color bricks that will have a patina green color that matches the
statue.  No piece count given but the set will be a Lego Direct exclusive and
may cost close to $200.  A white version of the statue was shown and I can • post
a picture soon.

2) Lego Direct will offer a mozaic service in which you can send in a picture
which can be converted into a brick mozaic picture made of Lego plates.
Instructions and pieces sent back.  No pricing given.  The resolution is kind
of low, so the image is not real great IMO.  A gray scale picture example was
shown.

I was given the approximate price as $25 - by one of the designers of the
project. She had a display over at the Maniac building. The plates (only 1x1 -
no others expected) will be available in 5 colors - white, black, grey, dark
grey and the new (yet to be released) medium grey.

3) Set 1349 Lego Studio Steven Spielberg MovieMaker was shown (no pictures
allowed).  The only three prototype models in the world with paste up box • model
and copy instructions were on display and demo'd.  Many unique parts to this
set including the road baseplate, girder for lights, sliding girder, green
corner slopes, etc.  Includes the director, assistant, camerman, grip, and
actors. The box is big with a Mindstorms type of flap.  The software was not
finished but the demostration was very good.  Going to be a hot item in
November.

This item already includes many special effects - for blending one image to
another, video backgrounds, sound editing (with sounds and music included) -
lots of each!

4) The racing tractor is big with 20+ pistons and very large balloon wheels.
One motor comes with it but works better with two.

20 pistons because, as a tractor-pull tractor, it has five engine blocks! The
designer indicated that the real tractor modeled could mount from one to seven
engines. The balloon tires are massive!!

5) The silver champion and its permutation were also on display and is an
impressive car.  Not sure why it is $170.  No motor, two hydraulic systems, • new
realistic suspension system, mat silver parts (expensive I'm told).  Still
$170...

6) The top secret area was prototypes of models used for the throwbots and
supercars.  Also shown were some dynamite low rider motorcycles (really big
ones).

You weren't s'posed to tell! The drag bike slicks are bigger than the tractor
pull balloon tires! Although they were only prototypes and might not be
released that big :(

7) 9731 Vision Command was shown and displayed.  Uses same camera as 1349.

8) MyBot was shown and displayed.  A duplo/toolo type of system for • intelligent
toys with sensors.  Can program for car alarm when someone picks it up.

This was my favorite area of the Kidvention!
