Out of curiosity, does anyone suppose that TLGs decision to move toward
flesh tones might have been, at least in part, motivated by the fact that
successful competitor brands have been marketing flesh-toned figures for
years? This, coupled with several years worth of Wheres Lando arguments
in various permutations could have provided some insight into the consumers
desires re: minifig colors.

Even the hardcore Star Wars LEGO fans are undecided about the Lando fig being
realistic and not yellow. I like like the fact that minifigs are free of race
and any move to change that only hurts the brand. LEGO has lost their focus.
They can follow the micro trends and disslove into another Mega Bloks or return
to what worked.
On a similar note, I like the fact that every license plate is HC514. It adds
something. It allows the child to focus on the creative process of building the
car without having to decide what the license plate should be. Kids rarely even
bother keeping to a color scheme. Its about the building and the play, not
whether or not the minifig has side burns.
