Hey guys,

I just had to say a quick something about LoTR, which I saw this Tuesday
(after vowing on Monday morning not to leave the house for a month in order
to study for tests. That worked :-).

First off, *awesome*! I loved it. I mean, duh, but still - the scenery was
breathtaking, the story was Tolkien so how can you go wrong, and Peter
Jackson is a wonderful director. I loved Meduseld and I knew I would. Helm's
Deep was also quite the thing. But the little pictures of Osgoliath were
breathtaking. A wonderful Nanofig creation if I had the time... it was
beautiful. Of course Gandalf, Frodo and everyone's acting was good, except I
didn't really like Eowyn (but I didn't like her in the book either). The
effects for Theoden's growing younger was *sweet*. And the Ents were so cool!

I liked the first movie a bit better than The Two "Towels" (anyone wanna
hitchhike?). I felt like they changed the plot a bit too much from Tolkien
in #2 - Faramir was my favorite character in the book but they sorta ruined
him in the movie... But on the other hand, of course, Gollum wasn't in #1
and he was *great*. But then again -- imagining him was part of the fun.
Possibly, the reason is I've seen the first one four times already, and the
more I see it the more I like it - so once I see the second one a couple
more times I might like it better.

What I really love about Jackson's work is that he captures the picture
Tolkien drew in our imagination quite accurately. And even if I had a
different picture in mind before the movie, it doesn't matter because within
five minutes I'm already so involved in the movie that I'll but their image
on top of mine. Many movies based on books don't manage to do that very
well, but LoTR does.

I just realized *someone's* bound to jump me for not saying what LoTR is,
and it's not even in my acronym FAQ. Hehehe... Lord of the Rings, guys, Lord
of the Rings.

So, now I gotta dig myself back into my hole and cram, but it was fun to
post something. Man, it's been awhile. I hear I didn't even get a couple
hundred posts listed this year, boy, this is bad. I talked to Chris the
other day about people who fell off the face of the earth when I suddenly
realized I had become one of those people! Ugh... I never thought this day
would come. :-)

Take care,
-Shiri
