The next version will not report any errors which happen in the preview window. Errors which happen during loading/saving of a Model will be reported once only if the warnings option is on. I forget if I've mentioned this before here - One of the things that annoys me is when MLCad comes up with the warnings 'error xxxx.dat not found, continue loading?' - and it usually comes up many times at once, causing you to have to click ok on (...) Hi, I am a relatively new user of MLCAD, and have run into some very annoying problems. I started building my model, and went merrily on my way until I came to a shaft with several gears and bushings on it. I decided to group these items, because I (...) Hi Mike! When you input orientation/location info using the dialog box (accessed via the icon on the edit toolbar), the text boxes accept decimal data, but when you hit "Okay" the data is rounded back into integers. I'll give it a twirl!! No more DXF's!!! I use 3DS MAX, but have Polytrans, so conversions from LWO to MAX is a snap. I was just thinking on offering something similar to bmp2dat. It can convert LDraw Objects (*.DAT) into Lightwave Objects (*.lwo) and Lightwave Scene Files (*.lws) (compatible with Version 5.5, 5.6, 6.x); running under Win 95 / 98 / NT / 2000. Well, assuming it's left in some bitmap format, I could update LDView to use a texture map to draw the image. I have separate directories in which I store models. example: /models /mine /fire /space /others /Tim Courtney /Terry Keller /TLG /s1234 /s2345 This is basically how I do it. When making official models (and unofficial models for that matter), there are minifigs, submodels, and sub assemblies to deal with. I believe their use of the software is cumbersome and limited, because even though they have state of the art CAD systems, they still print out LARGE sheets of brick graph paper (~6' wide plotter) with images on them and trace the studs. I know of many Industrial Designers & Architects who use very state-of-the-art CAD/CAID software at work, but use very cheap & limited software at home for their personal creativity... Why? (...) I agree, having an Open Source cad project would be a very good thing. I definetely recommend taking a look at (URL) It's a free site sponsored by VALinux for hosting Open Source projects. Karim, I happen to like the look of the user interface. It definitely has the "Adobe" look and feel. It also looks like the best interface I have seen, although it looks like it adds a little to the learning curve. Of course, added power comes at (...)
