  New Parts in 2001

Just opened my first 7146 set, the new Star Wars TIE Fighter. MmmMMMMmmmm, lovely triangular girder. Wonderful new flexible deep-ribbed hose. Must resists urge to LDraw ... must resist ... must ... Well, at least until tomorrow. :) Steve (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Ldraw.organization (was: License revision 1)

(...) As a somewhat innocent bystander, I'd like to see it stay LDraw.org, which is why I used the LDraw family of applications to refer to programs which will ultimately derrive from the work James started. (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: License - again

(...) Tim will have to correct us, but I believe that James's family has given Tim permission to continue publishing James's work. This is probably something which should be properly ironed out with the Jessiman's. They will have to decide to what (...) (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Working on new Parts Tracker

(...) Yes, the outstanding items will *definitely* be loaded into the system, one way or another. Steve (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Ldraw.organization

(...) Right. But if something new and plainly better (in all aspects) comes along, we can as easily label it "LDraw Mk II" as any other name. Assuming the author(s) would go along willingly, of course. :) Steve (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Ldraw.organization (was: License revision 1)

(...) And I'd still be happy to include the results of that effort under the LDraw umbrella. I think Jacob still has documents on his server about "LDraw II". But we don't need to write a new format -- it's already there. Heck, there are a bunch of (...) (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Throwbot parts

Has anyone modeled the little flap piece that goes on the head of throwbots? It's usually patterned. I know the head piece has been done and is in the Technic category, but I'm not sure even where I would look for the flap piece. -John Van (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: What Happened to my Primitives?

(...) Doh! Well, okay. I guess it's either that or have all my LCad bricks running around with no studs on them! Dave! (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Ldraw.organization (was: License revision 1)

(...) I was under the impression that we could get together and write a completely new program that wouldn't rely on the current LDraw format, the only thing left from the current programs would be the parts library imported until parts were redone (...)   Re: Ldraw.organization (was: License revision 1)

(...) Looks like Steve is already working on it... (...) Yes, but we should still make full updates available for people who don't want the latest version. I'll start writing an update download program, looks like it's the only thing left to do. (...) (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: Working on new Parts Tracker

Great news, Steve. If this streamlines the whole request / submission / review / acceptance process, then IMHO it is worth working on this in advance of the next parts voting. Might you be able to backload the outstanding submission queue into the (...) (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Ldraw.organization

(...) Shouldn't the latter be mlcad.ldraw.lcad.org? I tend to view any program which uses the LDraw parts library in any way as a descendant of the LDraw heritage, and hence as a subset of "LDraw in the wider sense". If a LEGO CAD program "Xyzzy" (...) (24 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Working on new Parts Tracker

Hi, y'all! I wanted to let you know I'm working on a new Parts Tracker. So far, "working" consists of doing some basic analysis around required functionality and UI. And asking Dan Boger if he could/would lend a hand with design and implementation. (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: re-name "patterned" parts?...

(...) You realize you answered your own question? The spacing was inherited from James Jessiman, but it works better to have it there. If some programs/people don't want the spaces, it's easy enough to delete them. It would be more challenging to (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: re-name "patterned" parts?...

Re: Ldraw.organization (was: License revision 1)

I got my domain, www.kylekeppler.com, from www.namezero.com for free, yes FREE.   Re: Ldraw.organization

(...) See (URL). Stick with www.ldraw.org for all our LCAD needs. "LDraw" should be the primary term for things LEGO CAD-ish, not just a reference to an obsolete program. Steve (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: re-name "patterned" parts?...

Yup, that'd be why. ;-) Actually, those one-digit numbers are in reality *two*-digit numbers, prefaced with a zero, but since the zero in question is invisible, you don't see it. ;-) Franklin (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: re-name "patterned" parts?...

  Re: Ldraw.organization

(...) I registered leocad.org at www.domainmonger.com for $17/year. A guy from work registered a domain for $3/year but they add an annoying frame with ads, I don't think it's worth it but if you want I can get the address for you. Leonardo (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  re-name "patterned" parts?...

People, I've noticed a minor problem with the current way of naming/titling "petterned" parts. Here's a brief excerpt from PARTS.LST (sorted by Description): 3070.DAT Tile 1 x 1 2555.DAT Tile 1 x 1 with Clip 3070DISP.DAT Tile 1 x 1 with Computer (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Ldraw.organization (was: License revision 1)

(...) I'm with James on this one. Keep ldraw.org as the domain name. Call the organization LDraw.org. The parts library should be the LDraw Parts Library. Usually when I say/write "LDraw", I'm using the term as shorthand for "the LDraw family of (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Ldraw.organization

(...) That seems backwards to me. If "LCAD" is the all-encompassing term we want to use, then LDraw would be a subset of LCAD, and the 'proper' subdomain name would be ldraw.lcad.org (to go along with mlcad.lcad.org, etc).
