(...) I think it's a pretty amazing first part! Nice work. I'm not sure about use of the edge lines on things like the eyes, etc. These get lost when you POV. (...) Sounds like this is not the part number. Many parts have numbers of the form "n nn" or "n-nn" which probably refer to indivudual sites within the injection mould. Only the larger ones have room to include the TLC part number, typically in the (...) (24 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

For bendable axles and electric wires you could use my bend thingie creator. The axles are the best but the wires aren't that great. Submitted for your approval, my very first Ldraw part: The cat. I'm a newbie to the program, via MLcad, and I've been enjoying the experience a lot. What's the easiest way to form bendilble object in the DAT format? I found a utility for hose part 754 but nothing for tubes, hoses in various Technis sets, flexible axles, etc... Is there another utility out there? Also, on a side note, I'm trying (...) (24 years ago, 25-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

I decided to try and do a little work on this part. It is a bit more complete than the mockup. But it is still messy. I am having trouble with the complex panels. Well, just as long as the part is there :). I just couldn't make my TIE Fighter cockpit without it. About the only thing I added was the little boxes on the underside. Ok, I figured it out. The original part used the rect.dat primitive which I replaced (I'm a neophite) with a quadrilateral. Soooo, I redid it again with a RECT.DAT instead of the quarilateral the way the original was and maybe this is more correct? (...) (24 years ago, 20-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

This piece comes on the UCS TIE in blue (and other sets in other colors, I believe). I can't find it on Tore's Tracker page or on Partsref. Has anyone seen a file for this? Great work! I'd say the part should be oriented differently, though. There is a long tradition of having round, wheel-like things oriented with the axle hole (or whatever) in the z-direction. Does anyone have anything to say or add about the torus primitives? I have a few parts in process that use parts of a torus that can be finished up once we decide on a format and file name structure. (...) Well it renders the same way in l3lab so it's a bug in the part. I think the problem is that the inside surface is missing. There seems to be an error in 2357.dat (or in LDGLite). It looks like the winding has been swapped for some of the sides, so the wrong surfaces are drawn. This is only visible in some special cases. When you render the example below with LDGLite (...) (24 years ago, 8-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dev)

I only looked at it briefly, but let me give it these two faint praises: 1. It's *far* better than not having any minifig hair pieces. 2. Whoops- I just discovered that Tore Eriksson already redid this piece (without side stripes). He actually went to the trouble of using disc and ring primitives to do the corners. I checked through early Town stuff on the set guide and came up with these two possibilities: <set:558>, <set:670>. These look like European and American versions of the same set. I found this piece in my vintage Lego box. It's an ancient 1x4 with printed headlights/grill. But it also has striping stickers on the sides.
