Todd and Eric's attitude (was Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings)

(...) Todd, Eric is way out of line in many things, to a few different people, from what **I** have **seen** you have only agreed with him, and followed up on it yourself (do I need to point out the thread? Because this is *true* and not a (...) (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

(...) But you did the steps in the wrong order, and that's my major beef. -- Tom Stangl ***(URL) Visual FAQ home ***(URL) Bay Area DSMs (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) Thanks. I think it's time for everyone to step away anyway, some things are being said that probably are more divisive than they ought to be. The rest of this post is meta, that is, it is about how communication happens here, rather than (...) (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Newsgroup structure: some tough decisions

(...) Yea, I don't think you can determine that, and thus I don't think that idea would work. I wonder how many people would actually object to someone getting a cut when they find a good price on an item? I certainly am willing to give the buyer a (...)   Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) I have read through most of this thread and I totally agree with Todd on this. I also see the issue of AFOL to AFOL discussions in the .lego section a little more clearly now. This seems very simple and a very good idea to me. Discussions (...) (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) Further unsolicited discussion is not going to change things. (Discussion was never invited in the first place.) Those who disagree are entitled to their opinions but should understand that it is impossible to please everyone. There are no (...) (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Newsgroup structure: some tough decisions

(...) Definitely open to that idea. (...) But is it possible ever to know whether someone actually made a profit or not? --Todd (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Re: A letter to Todd

(...) Mark, settle down. You're being a bit too demanding here, even though you might not see it. You posted a public letter, so you should expect others to reply. If you didn't want other replies, then don't post publicly. You can't get upset when (...) (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp, lugnet.general)

  Re: A letter to Todd

(...) A vast majority of a minority is a lesser minority... I still think you're overlooking the reason newsgroups are "grouped". If I want to read about a particular subject (be it Lego offers, trains, or how many AFOLs have "Lego friendly" pets), (...) (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Re: A letter to Todd

(...) Mark Papenfuss, thats who I know I am, never claimed to be anything official, or anything more than Mark Papenfuss. Were you unclear about who I am? (...) If you have been paying attention, Todd's response rate is below 50%, he is a busy man - (...) (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp, lugnet.general)

  Re: A letter to Todd

(...) Just who do you think you are? If you want to talk to Todd, email him, especially if you do not want others to reply. Personally I wish you would shut up about LEGO's rights on LUGNET unless you have something constructive to say. Such as (...) (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Re: A letter to Todd

(...) Absolute BULL. They are being punished, as you dropped the rules into place without a SOLUTION to help meet those rules. You just counted on external forces to handle it. Step 1 - Plan a rule Step 2 - Be nice and plan a solution to the rule if (...) (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) This is kinda OT: What about that daluland arabian castle set, very similar to 6074 that you won on eBay last year? (URL) that a fake? There was a lot of discussion about this set and I don't recall anyone ever confirm this was a real genuine (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Re: A letter to Todd

(...) <snip everything> (...) Plesae note the title of this post, if you feel one way, great - but please post it on another thread. The vast majority of your post had nothing to do with anything in my post. And it was not an open letter. There is (...)   Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(coming out of the cave hearing all the nose going on Lugnet....sheesh taking a step outside smelling the roses...seeing the LEGO private jet taken off back to Bilund ) This is my second post to lugnet ever since LUGNET came online. Besides the (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp, lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: A letter to Todd

(...) I can't speak for the "majority of us", but I for one do not see how you could assume that the majority of the lugnet community believes that what Todd has done is wrong. Personally, when things are agreeable to me, I speak very little of it. (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp, lugnet.general, lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) Well, this "side-effect" (as you call it) has just caused the first trouble in the technic.bionicle group! An AFOL tried to reply to one of my postings, but since he has an *@america.lego.com address it wouldn't let him so I had to do that for (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

One time I kinda complained to TLC, I was a little concerned that when you are recieving the Mania Magazine, it is all Adverts and hardly any MOC's, what's the point of this except as a way to generate more hype and previews! That's ok with me but, (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp, lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

I'm weighing in here on Frank's post because I think he's onto some good ideas. I think Todd is on to some good ideas, too, and here's why I think so. The beauty of .lego.direct is that it is a place where we *know* TLC (LD) is listening. (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp, lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: The Relationship - LEGO and its Fans (was: Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings)

(...) Um, I still remember a time when a LOT of AFOLs here complained about the lack of communication between Lego and us. Now, we should be happy that some people of Lego Direct actually answer our questions. The particular question on the (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)
