tossing an idea up in the air...

How about:
   lugnet.market-place.auction.fixed-ending-time
   lugnet.market-place.auction.variable-ending-time

This feels a little goofy, but it might address some of the concerns.

In lugnet.admin.general, Todd Lehman writes: • But on the other hand, creating a new .ebay group and requiring that eBay
posts go there isn't much different from not creating a new .ebay group • and
instead requiring that eBay posts simply contain the word "eBay" in the
subject line.  For example:

Subject: eBay: 10 new Fabuland auctions starting today
Subject: [ebaY] Metroliner and Club Car - ends 28 Feb
Subject: EBAY - bulk red bricks

This way, people wanting to find or ignore eBay posts just set up their
newsreaders or email filters to select or unselect eBay messages.  (I • think
some people even do this now.)  This would also mean that there's a right • way
and a wrong way to make eBay-related auction posts, but if someone did • forget
to put "eBay" in the subject line, I think even Netscape's email filter
supports searching the body of a message for a substring.

I like this idea. Most regular ebay sellers already do this. It shouldn't • be
too hard to get the rest of the regular ebay sellers to comply to this
rule.Getting the occasional ebay posters to do it will be more of a • challenge
to enforce and hassle to endure.

I do believe that this may be a hassle to enforce.

If we have a separate Ebay listing a "normal" person should be able to
reason that Ebay announcements belong in this group. Requiring that they put
Ebay in the heading would be harder to enforce, IMO.
